APIC is offering three one-day pre-conference workshops before the official conference kicks off! These educational courses take place on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 and allow you to increase your learning and your CNEs.

Pre-conference workshops can be added to your full conference registration or purchased as a standalone event.


Session 901:
CIC® Certification Preparatory Course
8 AM – 4:30 PM | 7.0 CNEs

Designed for those preparing to take the CIC exam or recertification exam, this interactive course will teach the fundamental concepts of IPC practice and provide test preparation tips, strategies, and practice questions. Access guidance for developing a personal study plan and identify test-taking strategies.

Session 902:
Infection Prevention and Control in Long-Term Care: The Future is Now

Long-term care (LTC) is a rapidly growing sector with diverse and complex infection prevention and control (IPC) issues and needs. There is growing regulatory scrutiny to ensure adequate IPC training and patient safety. This workshop is relevant for those working in skilled nursing facilities who want to deepen their understanding of IPC issues and improve their skills as IPC educators and program managers in LTC.

This workshop will focus on key areas of concern most commonly cited by CMS. Topics covered will include survey readiness, quality control, risk assessment, antibiotic stewardship and sepsis, emerging pathogens, and key practical issues of concern in the patient environment using a case study approach.

Consulting 101: How to Get Started Now

Learn how to become a consultant and the advantages of working with a consulting firm like APIC Consulting Services. Led by a CIC®-certified consultant and the Executive Director of APIC Consulting, this session will provide an overview of IPC consulting in various practice settings, how to begin, what types of consulting work are available, and the expectations of clients.
