APIC has received many inquiries from attendees, exhibitors, speakers and others regarding our 2020 Annual Conference in Phoenix and our intention to continue with the conference in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
After carefully assessing the rapidly evolving situation as well as our duties to our members, other meeting attendees, and the local communities that infection preventionists serve, APIC has made the difficult, but necessary decision to cancel the 2020 Annual Conference scheduled in June. We have given the situation deep consideration and we want to do the right thing for our members and the infection prevention community. We respect our infection preventionists’ need to be available to and healthy for their own patients, communities, and countries and acknowledge that this is your priority.
Various factors were taken into consideration when making this decision, including:
- During this COVID-19 outbreak, infection preventionists, clinical leaders and team members are needed in their facilities to provide care for their vulnerable residents, clients, and patients.
- At the time of this writing, most U.S. states have stay-at-home orders, placed bans on large gatherings, and implemented travel restrictions making it impossible for many of our attendees to be able to come to Phoenix.
Because we cancelled the conference, we want you to know you have two options for consideration: transfer your 2020 sponsorship fees to the 2021 Annual Conference at 2020 pricing or receive a full refund. You will receive further detailed information the week of April 13th from APICSponsorships@sponsorshipboost.comwith the refund process and instructions.
We share your disappointment and sincerely thank you for your understanding. We have created a FAQ document which can be found on the APIC Annual Conference website around any questions you may have.
If you have urgent questions before we are able to contact you, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your extraordinary efforts to fight this novel coronavirus for all of us! We look forward to bringing a future quality experience to the infection prevention community when it is safe and practical.
